Strikes Twice
Friday, June 29th, 2007It wouldn’t be summer in NY without thunderstorms. I have always been fascinated by lightning photography, even before being a photographer myself. The opportunity never presented itself until I moved to my apartment on the 7th floor. Once night there was an amazing storm, but it wasn’t raining yet. I set up my tripod on the balcony and shot away. I decided that my best chance of actually capturing lightning was by using long exposures and shooting as fast as I could. This shot was taken using a Nikon D100 and Nikkor 20mm lens. F5.6 @ 6 sec

Up Through the Trees
Thursday, June 28th, 2007I have seen this type of shot a few times before and always wanted to get one of my own. I finally had the opportunity last year when my wife and I took a weekend trip to woodstock. We were walking around a small lake taking pictures when I looked straight up and this is what I saw.
Taken with a Nikon D200 and Sigma 10-20mm @10mm
