Bumblebee

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

This shot was taken at Pepsico in Purchase, NY back in 2001 using my old Canon Pro90IS. These guys are not exactly cooperative subjects, and the Canon is not what I call a fast camera. I got plenty of Bee shots with no bees that day. This was one of the few successful ones.

Strikes Twice

It wouldn’t be summer in NY without thunderstorms. I have always been fascinated by lightning photography, even before being a photographer myself. The opportunity never presented itself until I moved to my apartment on the 7th floor. Once night there was an amazing storm, but it wasn’t raining yet. I set up my tripod on the balcony and shot away. I decided that my best chance of actually capturing lightning was by using long exposures and shooting as fast as I could. This shot was taken using a Nikon D100 and Nikkor 20mm lens. F5.6 @ 6 sec

Up Through the Trees

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I have seen this type of shot a few times before and always wanted to get one of my own. I finally had the opportunity last year when my wife and I took a weekend trip to woodstock. We were walking around a small lake taking pictures when I looked straight up and this is what I saw.

Taken with a Nikon D200 and Sigma 10-20mm @10mm
